        Ida Haggan was a local historian and genealogist who compiled histories of the pioneering families of Bayham Township in the County of Elgin, including the Edison, McConnell, McDermand, Haines, Weaver, Northrup, Chute, Lyons, Haggan, Hankinson, Shook, and Saxton families. Following her death in 1975, Ida Haggan's working papers were edited by Karen Bailey and published in six volumes by the Elgin County Library, entitled "The Haggan Papers: Genealogies, Parts 1, 2 , and 3" and "The Haggan Papers: Occasional Papers, Parts 4a, 4b and 4c".
