    Custodial history

Precise custodial information for this collection is unknown. In March 2010, the archivist of the Guelph Public Library discovered these unprocessed photographs and assembled them into a collection.

    Scope and content

This collection consists of photographs collected by the Guelph Public Library archives. The photographs are primarily studio portraits of unidentified persons mounted to cards of various sizes. Some of these photographs are full length portraits while others are only of an individual’s head and shoulders.

The photographs are examples of works by local photographers including Burgess and Son, P. Dobereiner, and W. Marshall. The cards include information pertaining to the photographer such as his address. On the reverse of some of the cards are unique designs likely used as a form of advertisement.

There is no further arrangement to these photographs.
