Grace Lutheran Church in Oshawa was founded in 1928 as a congregation within the Ontario District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (now East District of Lutheran Church-Canada). In 1929 the mission was officially organized. In 1930 property, including a parsonage, was purchased and the first church was built in 1931. In 1951 the congregation became self-supporting. In 1961 the congregation built a larger church, due to increased membership.
