Biographical history

Frederick Montye Morson was born on October 22nd, 1851, in Chambly, Quebec. He received a BA degree from Trinity College, Toronto, in 1873, and was admitted as a student-at-law by the Law Society of Upper Canada that same year. He was called to the Bar in 1877. After practising law in Toronto with Nelson Gordon Bigelow, Morson became a junior judge in the county and district courts of York, where he enjoyed a 40-year career. He retired from the bench in June of 1931. In addition to his legal work, Morson was involved with the Masonic Order and was a director of Imperial Loan and Investment. Frederick Montye Morson died in Toronto on March 15th, 1944.

Collection consists of records pertaining to the professional career of Frederick Montye Morson, a Quebec-born lawyer and judge who practised in the City of Toronto. These records relate primarily to Morson's retirement from the bench in 1931. The records in this collection include a speech, certificates and photographs.
