Donald Alexander Fraser served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Second Word War. He was a native of Toronto where he spent his first twenty-three years. He graduated with a B.A. Hon. Sci. from the University of Toronto in 1940. While there he also qualified as a Lt. MG with the Canadian Officers Training Corps (COTC). In July 1940 he joined the RCAF and while overseas was attached to the RAF. He served first with Bomber command and then with the Coastal Command Development Unit (CCDU) and Coastal Command Squadrons. Fraser saw action in Germany, the Bay of Biscay and over and in the North Atlantic. He ended his Air Force career as a Flying Instructor in 1945 and returned to the University of Toronto for graduate work.
