Biographical history
Frank Arkless (1883-1917) was born in Hope Township in 1883. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces on March 3, 1916 at Port Hope and was killed in France on April 8, 1917. Prior to enlisting with the CEF, he spent one year in the 2nd Mounted Rifles "C" Company. Frank is buried at the Canadian Cemetery No. 2, near Neuville-St. Vaast, France.
Custodial history
Donated to the Port Hope Archives by R. Kemp, 2009. Donor is the widow of Morris Kemp, who was the great-nephew of Frank. Morris's grandfather and Frank were brothers. One accrual was donated in 2015.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of one framed Roll of Honour/Death Notice for Frank Arkless, and one "Dead Man's Penny," 1917-1919. See item-level descriptions for more information.
