Frank Ford was born on March 4th, 1873, in Toronto to James Ford and Catherine Poole. He married Nora Elizabeth Sampson (d. 1920) in Toronto in 1899, and together had four children. Ford later married Jane Duff of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1923. Ford earned Bachelor and Doctor of Civil Law degrees from Trinity University. He was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 1890 and was called to the Bar in 1895. Ford served as Private Secretary to D'Alton McCarthy from 1893 to 1897, and was partner with the firm of Denton, Dods and Ford from 1897 to 1898. He later served as Private Secretary to A.S. Hardy, Ontario Premier, and then to J.M. Gibson, Attorney General of Ontario. Ford served as Solicitor to the Treasury from 1900 to 1904. In 1906, Ford moved to western Canada. He was admitted to the Bar of the Northwest Territories, and served as Deputy Attorney General of Saskatchewan. In 1910, he joined the firm of Emery, Newell, Ford, Bolton and Mount in Edmonton, Alberta. Ford was appointed to the Supreme Court of Alberta in 1926 and to the Court of Appeal in 1936. He was appointed a King's Counsel in Saskatchewan (1907), Ontario (1910), and Alberta (1913). Ford was involved with the Edmonton Diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada and served as Chancellor of the University of Alberta from 1941 to 1946. Ford retired in 1954. He died in Edmonton, Alberta, on March 21st, 1965.
