Biographical history

Edna Lamarche was born on March 26, 1925, in Cochrane. She was the second of a family of fourteen children. Before her marriage, she worked at Gerry's Bakery in Timmins. On May 27, 1947, she married Rodolphe Bergevin and worked at home while raising her two sons Jean-Pierre and Robert. She then returned to the labor market and was, for many years, an employee at Hotel Albert’s laundromat in Cochrane. Edna Lamarche Bergevin passed away on January 29, 2014.

Custodial history

Scope and content

The collection contains newspaper clippings mostly from The Northland Post/The Cochrane Times and l’Ours Noir, two Cochrane newspapers. There are also a few clippings from other northern Ontario newspapers. They are related to members of the Lamarche and Bergevin families, as well as to elements of the history of the town of Cochrane. Some clippings have not been retained and others were returned to the donor. The archivist also added a note to some of the documents.
