Biographical history
Son of Marguerite Gagnon and Edmond Comeau, Claude Comeau marries Mona Bégin in July 1957. The couple has three children: Robert, Julie and Lina. For 15 years, Claude Comeau works at Henry Selin Forest Products lumber mill. In 1964, Claude Comeau purchases the Queen’s Hotel located in Hearst.
Over the years, Claude Comeau, donator of the fonds, has recorded many 8 mm films. From his private collection consisting of more than 43 movies, the Centre d’archives de la Grande Zone argileuse has digitized five.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of moving images related to the donor’s family and acquaintances as well as the town of Hearst and Henry Selin Forest Products. These moving images are about weddings, christenings, hunting and fishing, Christmas celebrations with family, trips, and events such as a fire in Hearst, the strike at Henry Selin Forest Products in 1962, a parade in Hearst and others.

The Centre d’archives de la Grande Zone argileuse acquired the fonds from Claude Comeau in 2009.
