OriginalIy these records appear to have been the responsibility of the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and were transferred to the Fire Department mostly in 1998 and 1999. They were maintained by the Fire Department in order to have a record of fire safety plans for buildings requiring fire alarm systems.
Portée et contenu
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (previously known as the Thunder Bay Fire Department) is positioned under Community and Emergency Services and reports to the General Manager of this department. The key responsibilities of the department include fire suppression, fire prevention, responding to fires, explosions, auto extrications and hazardous material spills, rescues involving industrial accidents, rappelling, water/ice, urban search and rescue and confined space and emergency planning.
Most of the files in Accession 2013-21 relate to hotels or motels. Included in these records are fire safety plans, inspection reports, building audits, building information sheets, chronology reports, correspondence, memoranda, a few fire reports, photographs and building plans.
