        William Glenholme Falconbridge was born in Drummondville on 12 May 1846 to John Kennedy Falconbridge and Sarah Fralick. Falconbridge earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in languages (1866) and a Master of Arts degree (1870) from the University of Toronto. He was admitted to law school in 1868, and was called to the Bar in 1871. In 1885 he was appointed a Queen's Counsel. That same year, Falconbridge was elected a bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He served as a bencher until his appointment as a justice with the High Court (Queen’s Bench) in 1887. He served as Chief Justice of the High Court (King’s Bench) from 1900 to 1913, and Chief Justice of the High Court of Justice from 1913 until his death on 8 February 1920. Falconbridge was knighted in 1908. Falconbridge served as Registrar (1872-1881) and a Senator (1881-1886) of the University of Toronto. He was involved with several other organizations, including the Toronto Library Board, Irish Protestant Benevolent Society, Imperial Maritime League, and the Fish and Game Association.
