Biographical history

William Fairley (1851-1927) was born in Scotland and died on Dec.7, 1927 in Norwich, Ontario. His occupation as an assessor (1866) and clerk (1889-1924) for Norwich, Ontario. Mr. Fairley was instrutmental in arranging for Norwich to have a customs port. He was the collector of customs and Inland revenues for 18 years. He also was the secretary of the Municipal Clerk's Association for Oxford for 15 years.

Fonds consist of municipal returns and affairs records, tenders, brochures, petitions, letter correspondence,reports,statistics from collector & assessment rolls 1890-1934, debentures, and plans for Norwich Infrastructure.
