Administrative history

The Emergency Department Committee was created by the Medical Advisory Board (MAB) in January 1972, and held its first meeting January 21, 1972. Under terms of reference adopted by the MAB December 14, 1972, the Committee was responsible for establishing policies and procedures for the Emergency Department, creating and maintaining procedures manuals for medical and nursing staff working in the Emergency Department, and maintaining statistics relating to patient care and other issues.

Dr. W.J.E. Spence (January-June, 1972; September-October 1974), Dr. W.J. MacPherson (September 1972-June 1974), Dr. K.W. Johnston (December 1974-March 1977), and Dr. B.M Rowat (December 1977- ) chaired the Committee.
