File consists of promissory notes to Samuel Mitchell (1854) and Edward Neale (1855) by William Wallis of Cavan Township.

File consists of a claim with a list of accounts owed to McDermot and Walsh by John Bradford. McDermot & Walsh were commission merchants on Mill Street, Port Hope. J. R. McDermot lived on Smith Street and James E. Walsh lived on Pine Street. They represented the Pine Grove factory - soap and candle manufacturers and were agents for Fire, Life and Marine Insurance in 1856.

File consists of a summons to appear for John Deyell in the matter of Beamish & Boyer vs. Deyell for unpaid accounts, 1854-1855.

File consists of papers related to unpaid accounts of David Crawford v. defendants John Henshaw and John Head, 1858. David Crawford (1825-1874) was the proprietor of D. Crawford & Co., specializing in dry goods, millinery and clothing at the corner of Walton and Queen Streets.

File consists of papers for the court case of Fox vs. Soper, 1859. Hiram Soper (1823-1882) was a son of Leonard Soper and Mary Odell. He was a veterinarian in Port Hope.

File consists of a notice of appearance for Cornelius Quinlan from George Brogdin, 1860. The plaintiff, the Commercial Bank of Canada, was represented by Nesbit Kirchoffer The defendants, Henry Maxwell and Cornelius Quinlan, were represented by Brogdin.

File consists of papers related to Carveth vs. Wilcock, 1861. The case was related to the fact that H. Wilcock and Benjamin Wilcock owed money to John Carveth.

File consists of a warrant in the case of Bradley vs. Elliott et al, 1861. Plaintiff, Alexander Bradley was represented by J. H. Boulton. Defendants, George Elliott, Abraham Culin and David Carson (1829-1873)were represented by George Brogdin. The warrant to the defendant Abraham Culin authorizing him to seize the goods of one Robert Johnston for rent due to George Elliott, and under which warrants two seizures and sales took place.

File consists of the cover for the notice to comply; trial of Hall vs. James, 1861.

File consists of a summons to the defendants from the plaintiff, in regards to a $300 promissory note dated 4 Nov 1863. Defendants John Ainlay, John Bouskill, William Carveth and John McNaughton were all represented by George Brogdin.

Item is a poster originally pasted on the back the handwritten words of what the poster was to read in regards to the stolen animal. The poster was commissioned by William Berry, 3rd Concession of Hope Township. Comments on poster indicate that 50 were printed and the cost was $1.50. This piece is believed to be a printer's proof.

File consists of seven (7) pages outlining the Combined Door Fastener and Lock, with diagram, created by Henry Alfred Ward, 1878.

Item is a public notice warning residents about fines for misusing flagging or sidewalks. It was ordered by the Port Hope Board of Police, 1839. Robert S. Syer (1771-1841) was clerk of the Board of Police.

File consists of a make shift envelope of paper and wax. Reads "October 31, 1856". A paper containing the trial of George Brogden for the murder of Thomas Henderson". "The Property of R. L. Benson" is written in personal pencil; and page 4 of the Daily Colonist has an editorial on the Brogden trial and how the verdict may have been arrived at.
