Item is a Lady's Ticket to the Social Assembly as ordered by G. Bennett, 4 Feb 1837.

Item is an invitation to a Social Assembly at the home of David Gillespie, King Street, 17 Apr 1843. One hundred (100) invitations were printed. The men involved with the assembly were: John Linn, Samuel Hutton, George Henderson, James Nelson and David Gillespie.

Item is a double-sided invitation to the St. Patrick's Ball, 1843. The St. Patrick's Day Ball was at the Queen's Arms Inn on 17 Mar 1843. The ball was likely planned by either Masons or Orangemen. The managers were William Lee, T. Roundree, Daniel Hughes and Horace Perry.

Collection consists of a large amount of information on Port Hope, the former Township of Hope (Hope Township), and surrounding area. Some of the subjects covered are family histories, churches, hydro power, organizations, clubs and societies, floods, Port Hope harbour, historical information on the town and area, houses, public buildings, industry and small businesses, railways, viaducts and bridges along with original newspapers reflecting on the history of Port Hope as well as information on municipal matters and various government reports. The historical information covers a period from the mid-19th century to 2000. The fonds also consists of a large number of photographs. It also consists of a number of newspaper editions including special editions.

Series consists of various historical papers and research notes collected by Tom Long. It includes: (1) "Historic Roads of Ontario" Series # 5 "Kingston Road" CBC Radio script 1937; (2) Notes on the Kingston Road (for radio) 1937, copy; (3) "The Adventures of the Cobourg Rifles, During the Campaign of 1837 written by one of themselves;" (4) Handwritten and typed notes on the early history of Port Hope and area. At times the handwriting is illegible. Topics include: topography, Susan A. Grey, The Kingston Road, timelines, research notes, sketches; (5) Historical research - Port Hope and Area. Susan Greely, lot 2, concession 2, Haldimand township, Northumberland "Sketches of the Past"; Bibliography, miscellaneous notes on schools and emigration; (6) Handwritten notes on Port Hope and area. Topics include Durham county, Bowmanville, Port Hope, Newcastle, Cobourg, Northumberland, Brighton, Colborne, Vehicles and Coaches, Christian Guardian, notes and information taken from local papers; (7) Obituary for Robert Imbert Orchard (1901-1991), son of former Trinity College School Headmaster Dr. Francis Graham Orchard. Imbert Orchard was a well known Canadian actor and artist; (8) St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Hope. News-clippings from 1988. Photocopies from the Port Hope Watchman, 1852. 150th anniversary, 1975; (9) Notebook - notes made from research at the SPG Archives in England. Notes on Port Hope.

File consists of photocopies of the Port Hope Directory 1856-57 and Dodd's Northumberland and Durham 1880 Directory. Originals of both are also in this fonds.

This collection consists of yearbooks; annual reports; newsletters, handbooks; prize lists; constitutions and by-laws; board of director information; lists of presidents; correspondence; a newspaper clipping; programmes; show announcements; booklets; emblems; publications; hand-written notes; a petition; rules and regulations; proceedings of an annual convention; show books; bulletins; pamphlets; articles; a presentation; and member lists.

Fonds consists of documents gathered by Harold Reeve. It includes personal records, photographs, one (1) clippings scrapbook, historical records, and notes regarding the publication "The History of Hope Township." See series descriptions for more information.

Series consists of materials collected by Harold Reeve while conducting research on the history of the former Hope Township, Ontario. Originals date from c1866-1914. For more information, refer to item-level descriptions.

File consists of two (2) documents related to the Alma of the Sons of the Temperance of Canada West, Division #186, Township of Hope, 1867 and 1873. Each document includes a Form of Notice, Form of Resolution and Form of Decision. Names on the documents include: Richard Boney, John Westlick, Arthur Cleyhom?, J. A. File consists of four (4) green, wrought iron maple leaves. The maple leaves adorned the fences of Port Hope Union and St. John's Anglican Cemetery. Part of the original wire fence has been replaced with wrought iron. When the fence was replaced the maple leaves became collectible.
