History
Dundas Street Centre United Church, located at 482 Dundas Street in London, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. Dundas Street Centre Methodist Church dates back to 1856 when a Wesleyan Methodist congregation was formed. Members first met at a cottage on Adelaide Street, until land was purchased and a church built in 1870 at the corner of Dundas and Maitland Streets. It was dedicated on April 3, 1870. This church was destroyed by fire on February 13, 1895, but was quickly replaced and a new church building was dedicated in May 1896. In 1876, the church was renamed Dundas Street Wesleyan Methodist Church to distinguish it from Dundas Street East church. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925; it is still an active congregation.
