Funeral services under the proprietorship of Austin Duignan began in Guelph around 1916. Around 1935, Duignan & Son Funeral Directors became the official name of the business after Joseph Duignan, who received his license at that time, joined his father's practice. With Austin Duignan's death in 1950, the business ceased to exist.
Historique de la conservation
These records were donated to the Guelph Civic Museum in 1988 and subsequently transferred to the Guelph Public Library archives at an unknown date.
Portée et contenu
The fonds consists of records generated by Austin and Joseph Duignan during the course of providing funeral services in Guelph. The records relate both to the operation of the funeral business and to the attainment of professional qualifications by Joseph Duignan. The fonds is organized into five series.
