        History

From 1993-1997, Women's College Hospital maintained a competitive dragon boat team named the "Women's College Hospital Dragon Catchers."

In 1993 and 1994, the team competed at the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival. In 1995, in addition to the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival, the team also competed in the Great White North 911 Challenge, where they placed 1st in the "C" Division Consolation Final.

In 1996 and 1997, the Dragon Catchers competed in four races: the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival, the Great White North Challenge, the National Capital Dragon Boat Race (in Ottawa), and the Stratford Dragon Boat Festival. In 1996, the team took 2nd place in both the "B" Division Consolation Final at the Great White North Challenge and the "A" Division Consolation Final of the National Capital Dragon Boat Race. The Dragon Catchers did very well in 1997, coming 3rd in the "C" Division Championship at the Great White North Challenge, 2nd in the "B" Division Championship at the Stratford Dragon Boat Festival, and 4th in the Championship Final at the National Capital Dragon Boat Race.

The Dragon Catchers team was dissolved shortly before the amalgamation with Sunnybrook in 1998. The team nonetheless competed in several events in 1998, including the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York. Their 1998 season was very successful, and the Dragon Catchers won medals and cups in all but one competition.
