        Dr. Anne Keyl was born in Germany in 1912. Her family came to Canada when she was four years old and she was raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan before enrolling in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

        After graduating with a medical degree in 1937, she completed two years of postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Women's College Hospital. Dr. Keyl then joined the staff of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Women's College Hospital. She would remain with Women's College Hospital for all 35 years of her medical practice.

        Dr. Anne Keyl was an expert in treating sexually transmitted infections. From 1965-1974, she served as Director of the Village Clinic in Yorkville. During this time, she was also appointed to the government's Task Force on Venereal Disease.

        Dr. Anne Keyl died while on vacation in Jamaica on January 29, 1975, at the age of 63.
