    Biographical history

    Donald Carr is a lawyer in Toronto, Ontario. Carr attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar in 1951. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1965. Carr has served on the boards of several Jewish institutions, including the Canadian Jewish News, the Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy, Haifa University, the Lands of the Bible Archaeology Foundation Canada, and the National Executive of the United Israel Appeal of Canada Inc. Carr has been active with several other organizations, including the United Jewish Welfare Fund of Toronto, the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Toronto Jewish Congress, and the United Way of Metropolitan Toronto. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Carr served on the executive of the Reading Law Club, a social and educational club for Jewish lawyers in Ontario. Carr has received several awards for his service to charities and not-for-profit organizations, including the Ben Sadowski Award of Merit (1979), an L.H.D. Doctor of Human Letters from Yeshiva University (1983), and the Order of Ontario (2006).

    Fonds consists of records created and maintained by Donald Carr, documenting his involvement with the Reading Law Club, a social and educational club for Jewish lawyers in Ontario. Carr held several positions on the executive of the organization, including Programme Chairman, Financial Secretary, Vice-President, and President. The records in the fonds date from his time as Programme Chairman and Financial Secretary for the club. The fonds includes correspondence, dinner meeting notices, programme transcripts, programme materials and notes, speeches, letterhead, a membership list, and other textual material.
