The Director Translation and Terminology Coordination was responsible for formulating and revising departmental policies and directives on terminology, translation and interpretation, as well as developing the specialized terminology necessary to meet the departmental requirements.

Fonds consists of two Department of National Defence (DND) publications, issued on the authority of the Chief of Defence Staff. The aim of the publication entitled “Manual of Abbreviations” is to state doctrine and procedure for staff work as it relates to abbreviations. The following publication, entitled “Administrative and Staff Procedures, Volume 5 – Military Terminology, Part One – Military Lexicon”, seeks to provide a source of military terminology to DND users and translators.
