Administrative history
The Daughters and Maids of England Benevolent Society was established in 1890 to provide friendship, companionship and social activities to women who were of the Protestant faith living within the British Commonwealth. The Ivy Lodge (No.30) of Ottawa obtained its charter in 1911 and operated for 74 years.
Custodial history
Material was collected by a former officer of the society, Violet Newburry, from various past and present members.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of 10 minute books for both the Ivy Lodge and the Excelcior Lodge, correspondence, financial documents, documents and publications relating to group membership, programs of special events, photographs, postcard, newspaper clippings and artefacts.
