Biographical history
Danielius Siminkevičius was born in the village of Pasojus in the district of Utena in Lithuania on Nov. 16, 1918. He joined the Lithuanian Armed Forces as a young man, and served at least from 1939 to 1940, the year of the first occupation of Lithuania by the USSR. In 1941, Lithuania came under Nazi occupation, and Siminkevičius was deported to work in a munitions factory in Germany. After the war he ended up in a refugee camp in Germany where he met and married his wife Aldona in 1945. They immigrated to England in 1947 and came to Canada in 1950.
