      Thomas Bales Coombs (1859-) and Ellen “Nellie” Cope (ca. 1857 - 1939) married in 1879. They had five children, John Thomas Coombs (1880, Great Britain - 24 Feb. 1943, Toronto, married to Catherine Barnet, later Edith), William Corbridge Coombs (1881, Sheffield, England - 1888), Nellie Elizabeth Coombs (1883, Great Britain - ), Daisy Lillian Coombs (8 Apr. 1885, Toronto - ), and Harry Frederick Coombs (1886, Toronto - ).

      Of Thomas and Nellie’s grandchildren, three are of relevance to these papers.

      They are John Thomas’ children, Kathleen Nellie Coombs (1907 - ) and Wilfred (ca. 1910 - ca. 1990), and Harry’s daughter, Carol Joyce Coombs (b. 1935, Toronto - ).
