The ministerial training program at the College Biblique Quebec (C.B.Q.) was informally known as Formation Timothee. It was an initiative of the Evangel Pentecostal Church of Quebec City in response to church growth in Quebec. It was established in 1976 to train laymen and others called to full-time Christian ministry who, for many reasons, were not able to attend a residence Bible college. The philosophy of C.B.Q. was training in ministry (TIM). The program employed local pastors who served as mentors to students who were involved in local ministry and did their studies in Bible and Theology by distance education. There were approximately ten extension centres located around the province of Quebec which used first audio and then video cassettes to present curriculum. Students were expected to meet for classes in Quebec City at certain intervals during the school year. In 1996 the College Biblique Quebec was amalgamated with the Institut Biblique Beree (Berea Bible Institute) and relocated to Montreal in 1997. The amalgamated institution is now known as the Institut Biblique Quebec (I.B.Q.).
