Biographical history

Linda Fillion, a Mattice native, graduated from l’Académie Saint-Joseph in Hearst, before completing a Bachelor of Arts at Le Collège Universitaire de Hearst (Université de Hearst) and a Bachelor of Education degree from l’Université d’Ottawa. She then had a long and distinguished career as a history teacher at École secondaire Thériault, in Timmins. In 1976, she married Alan Pope, a well-known Northern Ontario politician. The couple has a son, David. For many years, Linda Fillion-Pope has also been very active in the political and community life of the Timmins area. She now lives in Calgary.

Scope and content

The collection contains photographic documents, newspaper clippings, correspondence and other textual documents relating to the professional and personal life of the donor and her family. The Fillion-Pope collection also includes the École secondaire Thériault students’ yearbooks from 1973 to 2002 and copies of Alerte, a student journal at Le Collège Universitaire de Hearst, in the early 1970’s.
