Biographical history
Lieutenant-General Charles H. Belzile (1933- ) was a Canadian soldier, former head of the Canadian Army, and in 1995 served on the Special Commission on Reserve Restructure (SCRR), the Special Advisory Group in Military Justice and Military Police Investigation Services in 1997, and finally he served on the Military Police Services Review (MPSR) in 1998. Born in Trois-Pistoles, Quebec, Belzile enrolled in the Canadian Army in 1951, and eventually assigned as a platoon commander in Korea. Upon his return he assumed a number of staff and command positions including that of Adjutant with 2nd Battalion, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and staff officer at Quebec Command Headquarters in Montreal. He was later appointed to several high-profile positions in Canada and abroad including that of Brigade Major in West Germany, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment in Valcartier, Quebec; Commander 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group and Commander of Canadian Forces Europe in Germany as well as Commander, Mobile Command in St. Hubert, Quebec. LGen Belzile retired from the Canadian Forces in October 1986, and then held a position of Vice-President with SNC Industrial Technologies of Le Gardeur, Quebec, from 1987 to 1992. Since 1992 he has been President of CH Belzile Consultants, which included holding the positions on the aforementioned commissions and advisory groups through the 1990s.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of documentation concerning the three commissions in which Charles H. Belzile took part. The documentation is made up of presentations, briefs, reports, and sometimes opinions from various sources including academic specialists, persons from all levels of the military, and in some cases, the general public. Personal and internal correspondence is included, along with general administrative and miscellaneous papers. There are three series in this fonds, divided by commission:

III. Military Police Services Review (MPSR) (1998)
