A Central Navigation School was formed during the Second World War at Rivers, Manitoba, on 11 May 1942, by the amalgamation of No. 1 Air Navigation School and No. 2 Air Navigation School. The school was disbanded on 15 September 1945. In the post-Second World War period, the Central Navigation School (CNS) was formed at Summerside P.E.I. on 1 Aug 1951 from the Specialist Training Wing of the Air Navigation School at that station.
