Caven Presbyterian Church, Exeter was organized in 1861 as a congregation of the Canada Presbyterian Church. The name Caven was adopted in 1877 after Dr. William Caven preached in the newly opened building. The congregation was linked with Rodgerville until 1882 when it became a separate charge. In 1955 Cromarty was linked with Caven, and 1967 Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall was added to form a three point charge.

Specifically, records consist of; a Baptismal Register (1880-1954); Marriage Registers (1896-1928, 1929-1959); Session minutes (1861-1911); Communion Rolls (1880-1918, 1920-1961); annual financial statements (1892, 1906, 1919-1921); Annual Reports (1923-1928, 1929-1947, 1950-1961, 1964-1968, 1971-1974, 1976-1978, 1981-1983, 1987, 1989); Congregational meetings (1879-1932, 1968-1979); Board of Managers meeting minutes (1879-1908, 1903-1934, 1968-1979); Account Books (1918-1920, 1928-1936); W.M.S minutes (1923-1954, 1959-1962); a published history and historical sketch (1961)and other records.
