Biographical history

Carl Frederick Klinck (1908-1990) was an author and university professor, holding positions at Waterloo College (now Wilfrid Laurier University), and the University of Western Ontario. He received his BA from Waterloo College, and his MA and PhD from Columbia University. In 1928 he was employed as an associate professor at Waterloo College. He served as college librarian from 1936 to 1942, and Dean of Waterloo College between 1942 and 1947. In 1948 Carl Klinck was appointed Head of the English Department at the University of Western Ontario, remaining there until his retirement in 1973. He was an author and editor of numerous articles and books. In 1973 Klinck was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was awarded the Lorne Pierce Medal, Royal Society of Canada, in 1978.
