    História administrativa

The Canadian War Museum was established in 1880. However, with its collection in storage from 1897 to 1942, the Museum formally began its existence in Ottawa's War Trophies Building during the Second World War. It became a division of the National Museum of Canada in 1958, is now a division of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and is housed in the former building of the Public Archives of Canada.
