        History

        No. 426 (Transport) Squadron was formed on 15 October 1942 at Dishforth, Yorkshire, England as the RCAF’s 24th – seventh Bomber – squadron formed overseas. During the war, it flew on strategic and tactical bombing operations. After the hostilities, it was re-designated Transport on 25 May 1945 and it provided transport for British troop to Egypt, for Indian troops from Egypt to India and British troops back to England. The squadron was disbanded on 1 January 1946.
