Artwork has been commissioned over the years by various individuals including former presidents. The collection details have been recorded in an Access Database, Campus Art Holdings Master.accdb, including: ID, Accession No, Series No, Series Name, File No, File Name, Artist, Donor, Media Type, File Dates of Creation, Location, Institution, Controlled Access Points, Restrictions. The descriptive information on each art piece is recorded in Series Finding Aids. This includes: Digital Folder, Digital Files, Installation, Description, Background Notes, Acquisition, Value / Insurance / Security, Conservation, Photograph. The information on various pieces is incomplete, but details are no longer available. The collection information is listed by institutional owner of the art pieces. The descriptions are provided in these Series Finding Aid documents, Sculptures, Paintings, Photographs, Publications under the appropriate institution.
Scope and content
The collection consists of information about art objects owned by UOIT and Durham College in the form of paintings, sketches, photographs, sculptures, mobiles suspended from ceilings, etc. Painting may be oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels, pen and ink, etc. Where appropriate, all artwork has been professionally framed and hung.
