        George Alston Calder was a local Woodstock lawyer and a resident of Vansittart Avenue. He chaired the first meeting of the Vansittart Area Association and became the long standing President of the Association. He was also, at one time, President of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Oxford Law Association and played an instrumental role on the Joe Boyle Repatriation Committee. His wife, Wendy Calder happened to be a Woodstock City Alderman during the years the Vansittart Avenue reconstruction debate and would eventually become Mayor of Woodstock.
