Administrative history
In 1894, Alfred Wallace started a shipbuilding and repair company in Vancouver which took the name of Wallace Shipyard Company in 1905. The First World War brought prosperity to the company selling cargo vessels to the Imperial Munitions Board and the Canadian Government Marine. In 1921, the company changed its name to Burrard Dry Dock Company. The Company bought Yarrows in 1946 and Pacific Dry Dock five years later. In 1972, it was sold to Cornat Industries.
