Biographical history

Gordon Russell (Bud) Case was born in Woodstock, Ontario on October 17, 1923. A graduate of Woodstock Collegiate Institute, Bud was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 to 1946, serving as an Airframe Mechanic at several RCAF stations in southern Ontario in support of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Upon leaving the armed forces in 1946 he underwent training as a draftsman, and worked in such a capacity throughout his civil career. Bud worked for Ure & Smith of Woodstock (a land surveying company) until the mid-1970s, and thereafter the City of Woodstock Engineering Department until his retirement in 1984. At the same time he pursued his lifelong passion, photography. Bud was a member of the Oxford County Camera Club for much of his adult life, and served as the Club’s president for several years. It was in recognition of his photographic talent that Bud’s employers asked him to record several major projects, one of which was the construction of the Pittock Dam in the mid-1960s. Bud Case died in Woodstock in his 86th year on March 15, 2009.
