Administrative history

Brussels - Ethel Pastoral Charge was formed in 1955 when Ethel United Church amalgamated with Brussels United Church.

Brussels United Church, located at 61 King St in Brussels, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. Brussels Methodist Church was built in 1876 and the church officially opened on January 11, 1877. The church was badly damaged by fire on March 1, 1924. It joined the United Church of Canada and formed part of a single point charge until it joined Ethel to form Brussels-Ethel charge. It was also known as Union United Church. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Ethel United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. The Methodist Church in Ethel was built and opened on July 1, 1877 although services had been held in personal homes and in the school for some time. It joined the United Church of Canada and formed a three point charge with Roe's and Union churches. In 2012, the congregation disbanded.
