Administrative history

The Brownsville Optimist Club was once a service club in Brownsville, Ontario. Brownsville is a small community within the Township of South-West Oxford. The club often held events in nearby Tillsonburg, Ontario. The Brownsville Optimist Club is no longer in existence. Dates of the club’s establishment and dissolution are unknown at this time. Optimist International is a service club organization with locations in more than 20 countries.

Custodial history

The records were created by members of the Brownsville Optimist Club. Following the Club's closure, the records were donated to the Brownsville Public Library, and were then transferred to the Oxford County Archives on September 12, 2018.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of records related to the history and activities of the Brownsville Optimist Club formerly located in Brownsville, Ontario. They are arranged into the following series and subseries:
