Dixon, Brian McFarlane was born in New Liskeard, Ontario on 10 August 1931, and raised in various towns and cities such as Haileybury, Whitby and Ottawa. He was offered a scholarship to St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. and graduated in 1955.
