        General note

The BRCN s [Books of Reference for the Canadian Navy] were training, operating and reference manuals organized by the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). They were arranged by the RCN filing classification manual which was designed to meet the filing needs of the RCN, as well as to provide a convenient standard classification plan for the arrangement of subjects. The BRCNs were replaced in the late 1960s by the CFPs [Canadian Forces Publications] which incorporated all three military services.
