Administrative history

Established and founded by Rosemary Makhan, the Halton Quilters Guild held its very first meeting at Queen Elizabeth Park School in Oakville on October 20, 1977.

Halton Quilters Guild’s first quilt show was held at the Granary in Oakville in April 1979 with shows continuing to be a yearly event for the next 15 years.

The "Guild Logo" banner was designed by guild member, Maureen Barber, in 1980 - 1981.

In November 1992 there was a motion put forth to the membership to hold quilt shows every other year, and the motion was carried. In 2018 members voted to hold the quilt show every four years.
