        Baxter Presbyterian Church, Essa was originally known as Dunn's Corners Presbyterian Church, which became shortened to Dunn's Presbyterian Church. From 1876 until 1904 Dunn's was part of a three point charge with First Church, Essa and Burn's Church, Essa. In 1904 Dunn's Church became part of a three point charge with Ivy and Town Line, Essa. In 1909 the name was changed to Baxter Presbyterian Church. In 1944 the congregation was re-aligned and Baxter and Ivy were linked with Zion Church, Angus while Town Line, Essa was linked with First Church, Essa and Cookstown. In 1961, after both First, Essa and Town Line, Essa had been closed, Baxter and Ivy were linked with Cookstown in a three point charge.
