        History

Ayr Presbyterian Church was formed in 1926-1927 by the continuing Presbyterian minority who left Knox Presbyterian Church when it entered the United Church of Canada in 1925. The congregation was linked with Galt in 1942 and dissolved in 1953. Prior to 1925, two Presbyterian congregations were established -- Stanley Street Presbyterian Church around 1840, and Knox Presbyterian Church around 1844. In 1913, Knox and Stanley Street were amalgamated as Knox Presbyterian Church and this congregation entered union in 1925.
