This collection was held by the Mechanic's Institute of Ayr until its dissolvement in 1899. The collection was then held by its successor, the Ayr Public Library Board, until its dissolvement in 1968. The collection was held by the Ayr Branch of the Region of Waterloo Libraries until it was transferred to the Regional Archives in 2017.
