Administrative history
Avonton Presbyterian Church was established in 1857. A church building was soon constructed and formally opened on May 23rd, 1858. The first minister inducted into the charge was The Rev. William Doak, who served until 1869. A new church was constructed in 1894, on the site of the original.

Fonds consists of minutes, registers and other records (some of which are on microfilm) of Avonton Presbyterian Church in Avonton, Ontario. These include: Baptisms (1859-1902); Marriages (1860-1904); Session minutes (1859-1900); Communion Roll (1859-1900); Historic Roll (1860-1935); Board of Managers minutes (1860-1880); an anniversary Order of Service (1977); and a historical sketch about the church written in 1957.
