Biografie
Born in Ottawa, Arthur S. (Stanley) Bourinot (1893-1969) was well known in literary circles as a poet, editor and publisher. Professionally, he worked with the Department of Indian Affairs as a clerk from 1914-1919, the law firm (Ewart, Kelley and Kelley), and Metro Life Insurance Company from 1921-1926. He became a barrister in the 1920's and worked at the Metro Life Insurance Company (1930-1953). Mr. Bourinot was a member of the Canadian Authors' Association and a member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Writers' Foundation. A poet himself, Mr. Bourinot also edited and published correspondence or 'letters' of other poets including Archibald Lampman (1861-1899) and Bourinot's nephew, Duncan Campbell Scott (1862-1947).

Fonds consists of two of Bourinot's manuscripts including "Some Letters of Duncan Campbell Scott, Archibald Lampman and others" (3 files of typed copies and photocopies of correspondence, predominantly between Duncan Campbell Scott and his daughter Elizabeth, Archibald Lampman, and E.W. (Edward) Thomson) and "The Letters of Edward William Thomson to Archibald Lampman, 1891-1897" (2 files of correspondence between Archibald Lampman and E.W. Thomson, transcribed in longhand by Bourinot, along with bibliographical material on Lampman and background comments about the manuscript and Bourinot's work). The fonds also consists of poems (1953, 1959,1961) by Arthur S. Bourinot, several of which have been published and two photocopies of photographs, one of an unidentified man and one that depicts D.C. Scott and A.S. Bourinot at Kingsmere, P.Q. on August 2, 1945.
