The fonds consists of 28 letters to Major John Fairfax-Blakeborough, mainly from Sir Alfred Pease, but also from other members of the Pease family; news clippings; a typed carbon by Pease concerning family history, dedicated to his children; and a typed carbon of a memoir of Pease by Fairfax-Blakeborough, published in April 1964. Fairfax-Blakeborough was an author and journalist who sometimes wrote under the pen name Hambletonian. He was born in Guisborough, Yorks. on 16 Jan. 1883 and, like Pease, was a member of the Cleveland Bay Horse Society. His books concern racing, hunting, and country life.
The collection was acquired with the two books written by Pease sometime before the 1990s.
