Maintenance Command was formed at Uplands (Ottawa), Ontario on 1 October 1945. It moved to No. 8 Temporary Building, Ottawa, Ontario on 15 March 1947 and it was renamed Air Material Command on 1 April 1949.

Air Materiel Command was formed on 1 October 1945 as Maintenance Command in Uplands, Ontario. On 1 April 1949, it moved to Rockcliffe, Ontario and renamed Air Materiel Command. The main function of the Command was to carry out the logistical policies and plans of Air Force Headquarters and to provide logistics support for all RCAF activities and organizations. It was disbanded on the formation of the Canadian Forces Material Command on 1 August 1965.
