Name of creator
AIDS Action Now!, is an AIDS and HIV activist organization founded in 1988 in Toronto. The mission of AIDS Action Now!, states that “through a combination of grass-roots activism, public demonstrations, lobbying, collaborative work with other community organizations, research, and related activities, we will:
- Improve access to treatment, care and support for people living with HIV in Canada and around the world.
- Fight for effective HIV and AIDS prevention that respects human rights.
- Work to improve the social determinants of health for communities struggling against the AIDS epidemic."
The records in the fonds were maintained by Tim McCaskell, a founding member of the organization.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of records documenting the activities AIDS Action Now! Included in the fonds are records of several committees, as well as subject files on a variety of topics. Also included in the fonds are photographs, the majority of which depict several demonstrations organized by AIDS Action Now!.
Immediate source of acquisition
Several loose periodicals and programmes included in the fonds have been transferred to the lesbian and gay serial collection and the monograph collection respectively.

The collection is open to researchers. There are no access restrictions.
