The Watson family originated in Ireland, emigrating to Vaughan Township in 1836 after a short stay in the United States. James Watson, and his son William, purchased the east half of lot 32, concession 7 at this time. The family continued to farm the land in question well into the 1960's, when the property was sold. William Watson was a teacher first at the Bryson School (School Section # 10) and subsequently at the Purpleville School (School Section # 11). "Bob " (Robert William) Watson was the last owner of the subject property.

The Pine Grove Baptist Church was formed in 1841 as the Pine Grove Congregational Church, with the founding minister being Reverend Samuel Harris. By the late nineteenth century, the parish was recognized as a significant Congregational cause in Canada, as evidenced by the fact it was a regular site for meetings of the Central Association of Congegational Churches. On 30 May 1957, the Pine Grove Congregational Church joined the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, changing its name to the Pine Grove Baptist Church. The Pine Grove Parish was dissolved in 1979. The Reverend Dennis Robinson was the parish's last minister, holding office from 1977-1979.

Norman Train was born in Vaughan Township on 16 June 1892 and, along with his brother George Morley Train who was born on 26 November 1888, served in World War I. Both men survived active service on the Western Front. Norman Train died on 14 March 1957; George Morley on 6 September 1933.
